March 22, 2010

Fairfax & Sammons walked away with two 2010 Shutze Awards in February, 2010 - one for an urban design project in Charleston, South Carolina and the other for a new stone house in Cooperstown, New York. The awards are sponsored by the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America's Southeast Chapter, with the award ceremony being held at the Atlanta History Center and hosted by Calder Loth, the eminent architectural historian. In describing the urban project, Mr. Loth said "The distinguished firm of... Fairfax & Sammons has given the city a blueprint for the future, one that can ensure that you know you are in Charleston when you are there." In reference to the new country house, he said, "The design incorporates the best qualities of the Colonial Revival style. It draws inspiration from our 18th-century heritage to create a work that is uniquely American in the best sense."
