Fairfax & Sammons Architects were honored to be a part of the new book, The Vintage House, featuring their successful renovation in 2004 to an 18th century cottage in Quogue, New York on Long-Island's South Shore. A new kitchen and mudroom was the task with the client having the desire to expand without altering the rustic character of the building. The final design was based on formal patterns, with strong lines of the old house remaining in the remodeled one, the result of subtle interventions by the team at Fairfax & Sammons Architects. The Vintage House is a beautiful and extremely useful book, which provides the reader with tools and examples of how to renovate in a way that uphold the character and integrity of the original house.
