Shingle Style House, Greenwich, CT

Renovation & Restoration

The owners commissioned Fairfax & Sammons to remodel the house, working to a strict budget. So Richard Sammons decided that, rather than fighting against it, he would work with the existing design, looking to some of Lloyd Wright's antecedents, such as Henry Hobson Richardson (America's first Beaux Arts trained architect), whose general approach provided inspiration.

The house that emerged incorporated the bones of the earlier structure on a similar footprint and the exterior transformed into an eclectic Shingle Style composition.
